Dallas Stars Rookies Programs

The Dallas Stars are dedicated to finding new and interesting activities to help children stay active while developing hockey fans for life. As part of this focus, we are pleased to offer Rookies programs, presented by Whataburger, across multiple ice facilities in Texas. We want to make it easy for kids to get on the ice and fall in love with the game of hockey. By using our facilities and professional experience, we aim to develop more interest in the game so all children have an opportunity to play, regardless of skill level.

What is it?

The Dallas Stars Rookies programs, presented by Whataburger, are free 5-week programs for boys and girls ages 4-14 who are interested in playing the game of hockey for the first time. Each Saturday during the program, kids are provided with all equipment necessary for a fun and safe experience. Trained coaches will help your child begin their path toward a cool and exciting new activity. Additionally, we now offer Adult Rookies for players ages 18+.

All participants will be invited to a fitting date on the first week of the program, followed by 30 minute sessions of on-ice instruction for four weeks. Participants will receive all equipment for the program and a Dallas Stars Rookies jersey for them to keep! Participants will have the option to purchase their gear bag or return it at the end of the program.

Contact your rink's Hockey Department to find out what steps you should take once your child participates in our Rookies Programs, presented by Whataburger.

Rookies programs are open to first time participants only. Programs rotate throughout locations four times a year. Please select a program and check for updated program dates.
